SECRETARY: Keith Beange
In 1979, Keith completed a degree in Nuclear Physics, 2 months after the nuclear accident at Three Mile Island, near Harrisburg PA. So, he decided to pursue employment in the aerospace industry with Pratt & Whitney Canada (Montreal). Keith retired in 2010 and traveled for the next 5 years. With his wife, Louise, he moved to paradise (Victoria) in 2015. Keith is an avid sailor and was Commodore of Beaconsfield Yacht Club in Montreal. He has spent much time as a volunteer for various non-profit groups.
TREASURER: Roger Swift
Born in NZ, came to Canada on contract with PWC in Toronto. After 4 years he left PWC and for the next 3 decades in Toronto, Roger was the CFO for several companies in the wholesale and retail arenas. In 2010, Roger retired back to NZ and in 2015 returned to Canada and arrived in Victoria directly from NZ. A keen golfer and a member of the Gorge Vale Golf Club. Roger joined VMNC in 2015 and was elected Treasurer in 2016.
NEW MEMBER LIAISON: Ken Brown
Ken arrived in Victoria in April, 2017 from Los Angeles where he operated Sunseeker Tours, a sightseeing company based in Long Beach, CA. Following the sale of his business, he moved northward with his wife, Carol, and now resides happily in Broadmead.
Almost upon arrival, Ken learned of VMNC, applied for membership and began enjoying the company of members at Club activities such as speaker luncheons and weekly hikes. Prior to leaving the US, Ken was a 360 hour + volunteer suicide prevention counsellor in L.A. and is the recent Past President of “Tippers”, the Long Beach Professional Business Club.
WEBMASTER: John Pierce
John moved to Victoria from Doha, Qatar in January 2017 and joined VMNC in May 2017. He worked primarily in the upstream area of the Oil & Gas Business for small and super-majors starting in Alberta with the last 21 years overseas for Shell International. In addition, John likes IT and is Webmaster for several websites and is Coordinator for VMNC Activity - Social Bridge Group D.
COMMUNICATIONS DIRECTOR: Derry McDonell
Derry is a three-time resident of Victoria, arriving here first in 1959 as a 12-year-old with his parents; the second in 1975 as a returning UVic grad, a newspaper journalist and the father of two children. The current stint began in 2010, when he retired after 26 years working in the publishing industry in Toronto as an editor, publisher and new product development manager. Since retiring, he has applied his career experience by working as a volunteer with several non-profits, a municipal public affairs blog he created (Open Victoria), two local political campaigns and of course, with VMNC.
