Review: Golf Therapy Day at Arbutus Ridge, July 6, 2017

A record 40 VMNC members took part in this year’s version of the Arbutus Ridge Golf Club Golf Therapy Day and by all accounts, it was a roaring success.

Golf Therapy Day Raises the Bar

What more could we have asked for? The course was in great condition, the weather was perfect, the competition was keen, the dinner was totally fine and above all, the companionship and team work from the members made the whole thing run like a Swiss watch. Kudos also to the efficient and courteous service we got from all the staff at Arbutus Ridge.

And special thanks to the club executive for their financial contribution this year. This was the third year for this popular outing and the first one sponsored by the club. Thanks to member Mike Bissell, we added a new wrinkle this year–a 50-50 draw to help offset the cost of eight–yes 8!–prizes, including a $100 payoff to the 50-50 winner.

Speaking of winners, top prize for the lowest team score using the Texas Scramble format went to the foursome of Mike Bissell, Ron Pinfold,Dave Nicholds and Roger Hay, who turned in a 1-under 70 for the round.

Three on-course competitions were won by, respectively, Lou Sanche (longest drive), Wayne Clogg (closest to the pin) and Martin Wheeler (closest to the fairway centreline). Good work boys!

And I’d be remiss if I didn’t throw out a special thank you to Gordon Rowland, Mike Bissell and Roger Hay for their great help in putting this year’s Golf Therapy Day together and making sure it ran so smoothly. Looking forward to doing it again in 2018.
